Follow these steps to get your RingCentral account set up and ensure that your transition to Unified Communications is smooth!

Please submit a ticket to the CUIT Service Desk to ask questions or report an issue. You can also call the Service Desk at 212-854-1919.

Step 1: Voicemail

Set up your voicemail PIN
  1. Go to the RingCentral Portal and enter your Columbia UNI email address ([email protected]) and select Next.
  2. You will be taken to Columbia's standard CAS login screen, where you will need to enter your Columbia UNI and password and select Login.
  3. Set a 6-10 digit PIN to use to access your voicemail messages. Click Save.
  4. Select a security question and set an answer for identifying yourself to the customer service team. Click Save.
  5. The account setup process is now complete! Your account home page will open as shown below:

Step 2: Installation

Download and install the RingCentral App
  1. Determine if CUIT "manages" your computer. This means CUIT provided your computer to your department and provides IT support to your department when you have issues. The easiest way to check if you have a managed computer is to look on your computer and see if you have the CUIT software download center installed:

  2. Select the button corresponding to the type of computer you have, and follow the steps to install the app.

Computers managed by other Columbia IT groups

If your Windows or Mac computer is managed by an IT group other than CUIT, please contact them directly for instructions on how to install the RingCentral App.


Step 3: Clean up

Revisit your saved voicemails

To ensure you have everything you need from your old phone, it's important to review any old voicemails on that system before completely switching to RingCentral.

Old Phone Voicemail Access

  • Your voice messages from the previous phone system will not transfer over to your new RingCentral phone.
  • 90 days after the installation of new phone (RingCentral phone), your old voicemails will be erased.

If you had a NetPhone:

  1. Call 212-854-8600 to listen to your old voicemails. You may call from any phone.
  2. Dial your extension and press #.
  3. Dial your old voicemail password and press #.
  4. Take note of any information that you need to store. These voicemails will be erased 90 days after your new phone was installed.

If you had a ROLM phone:

  1. Call the access phone number provided during your initial ROLM installation to listen to your old voicemails. You may call from any phone.
  2. Follow the usual process to access your old voicemails.
  3. Take note of any information that you need to store. These voicemails will be erased 90 days after your new phone was installed.
